Powell River Kings 3 - 4(OT) Victoria Grizzlies @Hap Parker Arena, Dec 11th, 2011

A couple of local boys would be key factors in an important win in OT in Powell River on Sunday afternoon. After dropping Saturdays game at the Hap Parker Arena, 5-2 to the Kings. The Grizzlies, would have to work for a split in the series thanks to an outstanding goaltending performance from goalie Jamie Tucker, stopping 45 shots on the night. Coupled with Mike Collins showing the BCHL what he's capable of doing in the scoring dept, this got the Grizzlies back in the win column after dropping the last three.

Tucker along with the Grizzlies defence would hold firm in the first period as the Kings threw 17 shots on goal, but, they couldn't solve Jamie in the first. The Grizzlies on the 11 minute mark, would go ahead as Alex Holland who's been invaluable to squad this year, would score to make it 1-0 Grizz; with assists from Moran and AP Jaden Schmeisser's first point as a Grizzlie.
The 2nd Period would see the Kings step it up a notch and midway through the 2nd period where ahead 2-1, through a PP goal from Benton and that man Cohen Adair(loves to score against the Grizzlies) would make it 2-1 home team.
The Grizzlies wouldn't back down and two minutes after the Kings go ahead marker, Mike Collins would score his first goal in Grizzlies colours tying it at 2-2, with an assist from Ten Vaanholt.
However, the Kings weren't to be deterred and one of the best offensive D-men I've seen in the BCHL in recent years, Craig Dalrymple, would restore the Kings lead going in at the end of the 2nd period.
Victoria, would absorbed some sustained pressure from the Kings in the third with Jamie Tucker and the Victoria defence holding the line well. The Grizzlies would score the equaliser from Mike Collins for his 2nd of the game and tying the game at 3-3, sending the contest in OT.
A nail biting OT period would be over quickly, as Jarryd Ten Vaanholt showed why he's one of the premier 20 yr old forwards in the league. Ten Vaanholt, would beat Kings goalie Jamie Phillips, who has been a thorn in the Grizzlies side this season, for an important win and a 4-3 Grizzlies victory in a tough barn on the road.

Credit to the Grizzlies for a good team effort with Tucker and the defence really stepping up. Grizzlies special teams where on form and some key points from Collins and Ten Vaanholt keeps the Grizz in the playoff hunt.
That win sees the Grizzlies one point out of 4th place and tied for 5th with the resurgent Coquitlam Express.
