Grizzlies In Blockbuster Trade For The Fitzgerald Triplets

Bill Bestwick continues to stamp his brand on the Grizzlies as he reunites with the Fitzgerald triplets, Gerry, Myles and Leo, in a trade for forwards Coltyn Hansen, Cam Lawson, recently acquired defenceman David London and futures.
The Fitzgerald's from Port Alberni, who at 5'8 and around 150lbs, are three of the smallest players in the league, however, are highly skilled, accurate passers of the puck and their skating ability is simply superb. With their small statures, you sometimes feel it's men against boys when you see them on the ice, however, the Fitzgerald's have played in the BCHL for the last two seasons and know how to take a hit.

All three triplets, played for Bill Bestwick in Nanaimo during the 2010/11 seasons and then really started to show their offensive prowess after a trade last season to the Prince George Spruce Kings.
Playing on the second line in Prince George, they picked up experience that will be key to them taking it up a notch, as they enter there third season in the league as 19 yr olds when the season starts.
I would expect to see a lot of ice time for the triplets this year and as well as seeing a lot of time on the top two lines. With the Triplets style of play, they should be a big asset on the on the powerplay this season.

This isn't the first time the Fitzgerald's have been on the Grizzlies radar. During the 2009 rookie camp as 15 yr olds, the triplets gave Victoria fans a glimpse of the type of players they have become.
When all three play on the same line it is a treat to watch. They play smart hockey and with their Sedin style, on the ice togther hockey sense, they should prove to be even more of a handful for BCHL defenses.
Myles, Leo and Gerry have also survived a year in the VIJHL as sixteen year olds, so yeah, they've end their stripes.
But, make no mistake about it, the organisation and fans will be expecting them to produce.

However, to acquite the triplets, Victoria has given up a hefty price. The Grizzlies in my mind, weather the players going to PG where going to be top liners or not, have given up a lot to get the triplets. Some fans may say yeah, we've given up some decent players but look at the return. I'd analyse that a little deeper, as I know a number of fans where excited and expecting both Hansen and Lawson, to have big years for this upcoming season, who's stats where both similar to that of the Triplets last season,

Coltyn Hansen, although going in to his last year of junior, with his speed and production was one of the players who really excelled and took the bull by the horn with all the extra ice time he received at the end of last season. Hansen, looks like a very legitimate offensive threat in this league and in his second season in the BCHL, should put up even bigger numbers.

Cam Lawson, 19, was  Mr. Consistent for me last season despite a couple of injuries. Cam, is a player who sees the ice well and get himself into good positions and chipped in with a very respectable 37 points for the Grizzlies last season.

David London, looked like he could be a good addition to the Grizzlies defence after a good year in Cowichan last season.Throw in the futures with this trade and it does turn into a fairly hefty price.
But, looking at the trade for the Grizzlies and Spruce Kings, both teams should come out as winners.

Welcome to the Grizzlies Myles, Leo and Gerry and good luck to Coltyn and Cam in Prince George.
