Introducing the VIJHL's Westshore Wolves
There's a Wolf among the sheep in the Junior B ranks as the worst kept secret in the VIJHL takes to the ice for the 2012/13 season.
Vic Gervais, the former GM/Head Coach of the Grizzlies himself will lead the Wolves against the current VIJHL powerhouses in the likes of the Cougars, Panthers and Braves.
With a solid local ownership group, a large pool of Midget players to draw from and playing out of Bear Mountain Arena should ensure a stable and what looks to be a well supported team coming to the Westshore this fall.
With Wolves GM,Vic Gervais well connected in the area, this should give this expansion team a leg up as they look to be competitive in their first season.
As many of the VIJHL teams benefit from the cuts from the Grizzlies main camps to swell their rosters, with Vic Gervias in play, he maybe able to snag some of better talent coming into VIJHL.
If the rumoured new Nanaimo Buccaneers expansion team, enters the VIJHL for next season as well, depending on if ice time can be secured for practice and such, it will move the league up from 7 to 9 teams.
The Wolves, in earlier reports where potentially looking to play their home games on Wednesday nights which could be enticing for local hockey fans looking to get their fix mid-week.
