Former Grizzlies favorite and Cowichan Valley Capitals captain, Tyler Matheson, has signed a pro contract with the Central Hockey Leagues(ECHL level), Arizona Sundogs.
The Sundogs who are based out Presscott Valley, Arizona about 2 hours outside of Phoenix, where founded in 2006 and average crowds of around 2,200.
Local boy T-Mat, if you'd followed his Junior Hockey or Lacrosse career know, what a competitor Tyler is and he leaves it all out on the ice for his team and teammates. Matheson, a big solid player who can play either defence or forward has a larger than life personality and I'm sure fans of the Grizzlies and Caps wish him well in his pro-career.
Matheson, made his debut for the Sundogs v Laredo on Oct 22, 2011. I think the Sundogs have just picked up a few fans on the Island with Tyler on the team.
