I was approached by three long time season ticket holders last night, to pass on a request to our 2011/12 Grizzlies players. The trick to that is, I'm not sure how many of the players read the blog(if nothing just to get a laugh at the spelling/grammer) or its a slow night for them:)
Now this request has been brought up by numerous fans in recent seasons in regards to,
"would the players be into or interested in saluting the fans at centre ice with there sticks raised after a victory on home ice". Now the fans who have asked this and there have been a number of them past and present. I don't think they are looking so much for recognition from the players ,but, more for the support and dediciaton it potrays between the fans, the players and the hockey club as a whole.
There are quite a few BCHL clubs who do this consistantly such as Salmon Arm, Port Alberni, Vernon, Burnaby/Coquitlum and of course it's widely used in the pro-ranks. It adds a bit of a professional touch as well. If Sean Robertson or any of the vets on the team read this, maybe talk it over and see what you think.
But, again this is just a request from the fans. Not all hockey clubs are into to doing this and if this doesn't jive with the current team then no problems or hard feelings, I was just asked to pass it on. Either way the support and passion from the Grizzlies fans to the players will always be there.
