Despite a a bright start, those Kings from the Sunshine Coast went bear hunting on Friday night; with the Grizzlies coming out on the receiving end of a 6-2 defeat.
Kent Lewis's team, who may not boast the talent they've had on their blue line in years gone bye, but, they still have a potent team and the Kings served notice to the Grizzlies that this will be a battle all the way until March.
The Grizzlies would score the game opener with a Nolan DeJong, PP goal for his second of the season with a helper from Skrbich. However, it would be the Kings who would go on to score 6 unanswered goals with Hiff and Dorantes scoring a pair each.
Although, the controversy comes on the Kings first goal which looked to have hit the back protective netting behind the Kings goal, where the puck fell back on the ice and play was allowed to continue, leading to the Kings first goal moments later. The play should have been whistled down.
That aside, the Kings where worthy winners on the night.
The Grizzlies would add a consolation goal at the end, as Myles would set up Leo to make it a 6-2 final.
