Surrey Eagles 8-5 Victoria Grizzlies @ South Surrey Arena, 3pm, Nov 11th

Oh boy!!! So, is anyone else glad that we don't have to go back to Surrey until January. The Grizzlies went down to there 3rd defeat against the Eagles in Surrey in a month with a tough loss to boot.
Where Victoria has made Bear Mountain a bit of a fortress this season, there away performances do need some work.
The first period of this game was pretty even with both sides exchanging 3 goals a piece in the first. Murphy, from the broadcast along with his first line mates did there best to cause trouble for the Eagles with goals from Ten Vaanholt, Robertson and Murphy. The Eagles would reply with markers through Killisoff, Saip and Orzetti.
At the start of the 2nd the Eagles would start to assert themselves with two quick goals through Grenier and vet Steve Koshey. The second period looked and sounded ugly at times which would see B'day boy Hansen and the Eagles Scholten mix it up a bit. Victoria, would reply with a Taylor Pernerowksi PP with assists from Lawson and Murphy. However, a goal from Scholten would restore the two goal lead. Chase Kaiser and Saip would exchange goals for thier respective teams with Linden Saip's goal giving the Eagles a 7-5 lead.
The end of the period would get a little nasty with misconducts handed out to the Grizzle Warrior Kevin Woodyatt and Surrey's Orser and Laip.
The third period would see lots of determination, but, that wasn't enough to put the Grizzlies back on the score board, as the nail in the coffin would be added via a Robert Lindeross goal to make it 8-5 Surrey, towards the end of the period.
A tough night for goaltending and defence for the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies must regroup, as they face the Spruce Kings on Sunday in the Prince George.

Game thoughts -  Two twists on this one. The Grizzlies goal scoring isn't an issue at 90 on the season, which is almost thirty more than the nearest other coastal conference team. Now, here's the problem the team has conceded 92 goals, almost thirty more than the nearest other coastal conference team. This needs to be addressed and soon. The Grizzlies are capable of making the playoffs with this squad, but, unless the leakage of goals can be contained it might be dicey.
The other twist on this game I'd like to make is the Surrey Eagles. Now, the Eagles have always been a team in contention in the BCHL. But, they haven't  made any serious noise in the playoffs since they won the league back in 2005.
But, they have a good mix of vets and rookies who have come together and along with coach Matt Erhart has turned the Eagles into what looks like a serious contender. If the Eagles can keep there secondary scoring going, they may be a good tip to win it all this season.

Attendance at South Surrey Arena - 910     Shots on Goal - Surrey 30 and Victoria 31
Power Plays -  Surrey 0 for 5  and  Victoria 1 for 7
