Another tough Grizzlies road loss with Spruce Kings top guns Paul De Jersey, Mike Colantone and the triple terror 'aka' the Fitzgearld triplets feasting on Victoria.
Now, again excuses can be made that missing Murphy, Myron and Bilious put the Grizzlies in a tough spot and they where certainly undermanned. But, I'm sure that's not going to cut it with the players and the coaching staff as far as this defeat goes.
Prince George isn't the Ed Dempsey also-ran teams of seasons gone by. Dave Dupas has assembled a good squad of players in Prince George and they are buying into his system.
The Grizzlies have found there grove this season at times, but, have fallen away in the last couple of weeks. What will help matters is a bit of break before Friday's game against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Time to practice, get Murphy, Myron and Bilious back in the squad. One player who has recently returned to the fold after injury is David Walchuk. As he starts to get a few more starts under this belt, I expect him to have a strong rookie season.
The game itself saw PG take a three goal lead going into the middle of the 2nd period, through 2 Paul De Jersey goals and a Gerry Fitzgerald marker. Lawson, would score through Gehl and Hansen putting the Grizzlies back in the game. Myles and Leo would combine towards the end of the second to give Prince George a 4-1 lead
Going into the third, the Grizzlies would make it interesting as Brad Gehl would score his 7th goal of the season from Lawson and Kemmler (I sure hope we card him this season). However, less than a minute later Skyler Pacheco, would score with assists from Gerry and Myles. 5-2 would be the final.
Although it was another 5 goals conceded, Jamie Tucker did his best to keep the score down as he faced 38 shots in total. Jamie Tucker, has been facing far to many shots on goal in his last three outings. The defence needs to cut down on the opposing forwards time and space. More fore checking would help matters as well.
The Grizzlies fall to 5th place with 22 points on the season and are 4 wins and 6 losses in there last 10 games.
Victoria isn't back on the ice until Friday, which gives them 3 days to work on there play. The Grizzlies with 3 days off, hasn't happened much lately.
