Greame Strukoff - Part 1: Updates on how our players from last season are doing in there NCAA/CIS hockey careers!
On Oct 13, 2010, the Grizzlies traded the rights of defenceman Jake Baker and forward Wes Myron(would be dealt back, good thing too) to the Trail Smoke Eaters for defencemen Greame Strukoff.
Now, not having seen Greame play, I for one thought it was a little to steep at the time.
Well I was wrong, very wrong as Strukoff become an instant fan favorite with his hard hitting, solid defending and ability to jump up in the play and add a few key points here and there.
Strukoff, was a key part of a good Grizzlies finish last season and I know many fans would loved to have seen Greame come back in the black and gold for his final year in Junior.
In 46 game for the Grizzlies, he would go on to score an impressive 7 goals and 17 assists for the Grizzlies.
However, not to be as Strukoff quite rightly has gone on to persue his NCAA career with the, University of Alabama/Huntsville Charges hockey program.
Sadly, the University of Alabama/Huntsville has decided in a cost cutting move to end the NCAA division 1 hockey program at the school. Hopefully Greame and another former Grizz favorite Alex Allan who's on the team as well, can transfer to another NCAA program.
Doesn't the Uni.Alabama/Huntsville have a basketball program they can cut instead. Bunch of 6ft 11'' guys, throwing a ball into a basket, what type of sport is that anyway!!!!
Here's the link for the program closure for the Uni Alabama/Huntsville :
