Victoria Grizzlies 3 - 2 Alberni Valley @ Weyerhauser Area, Jan 11, 2013

In the sixth contest between the teams this season, all six have been one goal games with five of the six going into OT. The Grizzlies do have the upper hand in the series with five wins and one loss. But, this isn't really a fair reflection of the match ups, as both teams have given each other everything they can handle and has intensified the rivalry with each other.

With the Grizzlies giving debuts to Keyler Bruce whose physical presence in the game was certainly felt and to forward Pearce Eviston making his return to the Grizzlies for a second spell. For the Dogs, former Grizz, Teal Burns would pull a Bulldogs jersey on for the first time. Burns, who is the first player in BCHL history to play for all five Island teams, after stints with the Grizzlies, Clippers, Kings, Caps and Bulldogs.

Victoria, did have the bulk of the position throughout the game, but, it would be the Bulldogs with two unanswered goals through Hansen and Tironese in the first two periods, that would make the difference.

Despite peppering goalie Jay Deo’s net throughout, the Grizzlies couldn’t make the break through and it would be down to the Triplets to turn the tide of the game in the third period. Goals from Myles and Gerry with assists from Leo would tie it up mid-way through the third. A last minute winner, which has been typical of the drama and action between the Dogs and Grizz this season, saw Myles Fitzgerald score the winning goal to make it a 3-2 final.

This win gives the Grizzlies an 11 point gap at the top of the Island and yes, we are the number one team on points in the BCHL right now. Congrats guys!!!!!!!
