Cowichan Valley Capitals v Victoria Grizzlies,
The Grizzlies go into the Island Saving Centre on Wednesday night, as what could be best describe as facing off against a wounded animals in the Caps.
The Caps who traded away star goalie Derek Dun for futures to the Nanaimo Clippers just before the New Year, look to have thrown the towel in on the season. But, they did pick up Quebec born goalie Pat Spano who has committed to Yale for next season and still have the likes of Steen Cooper, Teal Burns, Tyler Mueller, Keyler Bruce and Luke Gordon.
Although the Caps might not be done trading with the deadline approaching, a nice win over the Bulldogs two days ago, show there's still some bite left in the team from Duncan.
The Grizzlies will look to get back to winning ways after losing a hard fought battle to the Clippers last Saturday. It took half the game for the Grizzlies to get going and they did show a little rust after being off the ice for 10 days.
But, this should be a game that the Grizzlies will eyeball as a winnable road trip given the standings between the two teams right now, and a Grizzlies team on it's game are very hard to beat home or away. The Fitzgerald's didn't look like they'd skipped a beat and Dante Hahn and Garrett Skrbich looked lively and played hard. David Mazurak, Stefan Nicholishen and Turner Lawson showed the energy and physicality that will be needed for the last third of the season.
No trip to the Island Saving Centre is easy with that hostile crowd, but, the Grizzlies should look to get back to winning ways tonight.
The Grizzlies are back at Bear Mountain Arena for a 7:15pm game v's the Clippers and a Sunday afternoon game at 1:30pm v's Powell River.
