Powell River Kings 13 - 1 Victoria Grizzlies @ Hap Parker Arena, Feb 18th, 2012

The Grizzlies fourteen skaters would come off on the wrong end of a 13-1 defeat to the Powell River Kings, in the first game of a two game series in Powell River on Saturday night. Victoria, would welcome back Captain Kevin Smith and add the Campbell River Storm's, Latvian born forward Davis Sprukts to the ranks ,but, would still be undermanned against Kent Lewis's powerhouse Kings.
Little or no mercy would be shown as Powell River would pepper the Grizzlies net with 63 shots, Nick Taylor being in goal for 19 of them and Taylor Pears for 44.
The Kings would be 9-0 ahead until the lone Grizzlies marker came from Mark McLellan with assist from DeJong and Powell towards the end of the 2nd period.
Again, the terms "thin roster" and "undermanned", is the theme of the 2nd half of this Grizzlies season, but, credit to the guys who have always played Powell River hard, no matter the scores this season.
Hell, I've seen this Grizzlies squad put in a better effort against the Kings than the RBC cup team of 2008/09.
Anyhow, the two teams square off again this afternoon at 1:30pm. Hang in there Guys!!!!!
