Wade Murphy no longer heading to Merrimack

Former Grizzlie and current Penticton Vees star sniper Wade Murphy has decommited his scholarship from Merrimack College for the 2013/14 season.
With potentially other offers coming in from other NCAA Universities or potentially a move to the WHL/USHL, it's unsure at this point. However, you can bet there will be a number of options for someone of Wade's talent at this stage.

Fresh of attending Calgary Flames prospects camp in the summer, Wade looks set to lead the line again for the Vees coming into the new season.

Preseason - Grizzlies 4-4 Capitals, Aug 24, 2012

A hard fought preseason game, saw both squads of players leaving it all out the ice in the hopes of sticking with their clubs. Cowichan, iced a slightly more experienced line up than Victoria did and took a 3-0 lead going into the second period before Victoria could start to get things going in the points department.
The Caps had Steen Cooper, Muller and Waddington in the line up who looked sharp all night while some of the stand out from the Grizzlies roster where Saanich Braves product Shawn McBride, Major Midget standout in recent seasons Cole Pickup, Cole Golka(SMHL,Notre Dame Argos) and Dan Nachbaur(NAHL, Wenatchee Wild).
Justin Rai, a Richmond Sockeye had some nice stick handling and was also looking to create going forward.
As the Grizzlies did well to come back from 3-0 and 4-3 down, you could see that there was plenty of fire in the eyes of these kids trying to make the team.

All in all a good game, good crowd and wow to see Bill Bestwick behind the Grizzlies bench, a sight to be hold.

Cuts have(are) being made and we'll update you as soon as we learn.

Training Camp Day 3 - Intersquad games

A hard fought, high energy Intersquad game tonight at the JDF arena, saw the guys trying to make the team, show their stuff. Some nice displays in goal by the goalies Dillon/McKinnon for Team Grey and Beesley/Smith for Team Black where certainly of note.
As I caught the 2nd half of the game, a couple of guys who stood out for me where Shawn McBride of the Saanich Braves(Team Grey) and Spencer Schoen(Team Black) of the Delta IceHawks where among numerous good performances tonight.
Cuts where made after tonight's game.

After the first round cuts these are the guys left fighting for a spot on our Grizzlies team. So far it's been a great camp and thanks to all the guys who came to it. I wish all of you a successful hockey career.

Training camp officially kicked off for the Victoria Grizzlies on Monday. The team split into 3 groups for on ice sessions, the first two groups were filled with players looking to crack the team and included familiar faces such as Garrett Kemmler and Shawn McBride who both AP'd with the Grizzlies last season. The third group was filled with the returning Grizzlies and BCHL veterans. The first two groups ended the day with a scrimmage at Juan De Fuca arena. Camp continues tomorrow with the same groupings.
